Brookie's personal day
Each of my children gets three "personal" days from school each semester. These are days that they get off for whatever reason. We usually use them as vacation days or fun days! Brooke just started K-4 second semester, and up to this point, I hadn't seen any need to keep her home. She's been doing so well in school, and we have good time together each night. However, every morning for the past few weeks when I have gone in to wake her up she has looked at me with eyes closed and in a raspy little voice said, "Mommy, can I take a personal day today?" I don't even know that she knew what it meant. Two nights ago she was up not feeling so well a few times in the night, so I purposely let her sleep in yesterday. She finally got up at about 9:30, and said, "Mommy, where are the kids?" I told her that they went to school and that she was taking a personal day. Her eyes brightened. She then asked what we were going to do. I told her that we were going to make soup, cornbread, and kefir together. She sat on the counter and we had such fun. She also wanted to get groceries and do homeschool with me. We ended her personal day with painting her toenails "pink". What a fun day for both of us!
